Message From Rabbi Mel Hecht, MHL, DD
My Dear Everybody!
This means members, honorary members, “Zoomers” and potential newcomers….All who are among those who wish to expand their Spiritual Horizons. It doesn’t matter whether you consider yourself inclined towards one of the many expressions of Judaism – or – any other religion, or if you consider yourself “Simply Spiritual.” If you are among those who want to expand your understanding and appreciation of one of the many expressions of Truth in all it’s varieties…. Asking: What is the meaning of Life, if one day, we cease to exist as we know existence? And, Is there something “More,” both now or in yet some “Other” dimension?
This is the purpose and goal of Bet Emet (A House of Truth). Certainly, this is from a Jewish Perspective. I am a Rabbi, trained by the Reform Movement of Judaism. I studied in the U. S., I studied in Israel and after three Internships, I became a fully ordained Rabbi with two undergraduate degrees, a Masters Degree and a Doctorate. Some of the most meaningful memories of my Rabbinate come from the time when I “Interned” at congregations so small they could not afford to have a full-time rabbi. They were the ones, who so deeply wanted to affirm their Spirituality as Jews that they applied to the Reform Movement and Colleges to provide student rabbis. The warmth, love and appreciation that I have felt at Bet Emet have touched me and my wife, Micki, deeply. We, in turn, feel deep gratitude and love to this “Sha’ar YaShuv” – this “Saving Remnant” of our People at Bet Emet who have persevered in keeping Bet Emet alive and well!
I served in Germany as a United States Army Chaplain and Race Relations Officer. In the process, I learned as much about my own prejudices as I taught others about theirs. Israel and Germany were expanding moments in my growth and life.
I am inviting you to come grow and share with us beyond the limits of “stereotypical religion.” Of course we would like for you to support us through membership, which is only $200 per year. But simply being with us, either in person or through Zoom – would help to enhance the experience for everyone involved!
Simply connect…then decide.
Shalom Oo’v’Racha, (Peace & Blessings!)
Rabbi Mel Hecht, BA, BHL, MHL, DD
I pray that love of everyone and good drown out hate and that the day will come soon and in our time when we can all be loved, respected, and free to be who we are without fear. Everyone of us deserves these basic human rights.
